Background

Performance Management and Counselling is undergoing a sea change not just outside our industry but within the industry as well. Employees’ role in Performance Management has become one of an active partners rather than of passive watchers.  

Performance Counselling is acquiring different dimensions. Sophisticated techniques are being used in Performance Management. There is a clear shift towards helping the individual to know about himself and grow rather than just using the system as a mere punishment/ reward tool. Performance Counselling mechanism has an inbuilt feedback mechanism both for the individual and for the organization. Scientific and Systematic Counselling benefits all, in the long run. Officers who are doing performance appraisal and counselling have to be sensitized to the paradigm shifts and have to acquire the new generation skills and tools. The programme specifically aims at this.
