– C.D. DESHMUKH SEMINAR ON CREATING CONSUMER AWARENESS IN LIFE INSURANCE Background: Life
insurance has been a social need since long.
But still insurance is never bought – it is always sold, as the
awareness level is very low among the public.
Even the educated people have a hazy view of life insurance and its
benefits. In rural India it
is still called the Death Fund. Many
urban people believe that
both life and general insurance are one and the same.
While the
then Union Finance Minister Shri C.D. Deshmukh nationalized Life
Insurance, he wanted the concept and the benefit to flow to each and every
village of Independent India. While
still striving for this especially in the present regulator market with
private players doing their part, it is
the need of the hour
to increase the consumer awareness among the public regarding life
insurance. Objectives: At the end
