NON-IT PERSONNEL

(COMPANY SPECIFIC PROGRAMME FOR L.I.C. OF INDIA)

 

Background:

Linux is a powerful, stable, flexible operating system that is being used by millions of people around the world.    More and more Corporates are now shifting towards Linux platform which is cost effective and equally efficient as compared to other operating systems. Today, various Office packages are used, the most commonly used being Microsoft Office. There are various Office Suites available for Linux.  OpenOffice.org is an open source office suite. It is available for different platforms, including Microsoft Windows, Solaris, Linux, and Mac. OpenOffice.org is compatible with Microsoft Office and comes free with Red Hat 9.0. OpenOffice.org is also freely available for download and installation. OpenOffice.org has stable, well developed and user-friendly office applications such as Writer (A word processor), Calc (spreadsheet), Impress (presentation), Base (database), etc.

 

Objectives:

After attending the training programme, the participants will be able to:

·  Identify the usage of OpenOffice.org package

·  Install OpenOffice.org package

·  Use OpenOffice.org effectively

·  Convert files from other platforms like Microsoft Office to OpenOffice.org

·  Use OpenOffice.org files on Windows platform

·        OpenOffice.org Writer

·        OpenOffice.org Impress

·        OpenOffice.org Calc

·        Other OpenOffice.org utilities

·        Application of various OpenOffice.org tools in insurance

The programme will have 50% theory and 50% practical.

 

Participants’ Profile:

AAO, AO, Asst. Secretary, Secretary and Managers from various (non-IT) departments of Central Office, Zonal Offices, Divisional Offices, Branch Offices and various Training Centers.

Note: Prior knowledge of Linux is not a prerequisite.

 

Duration: 1 Week
