– PROGRAMME ON PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT (NON-LIFE) Background In the overall
scheme of HRD practices in an organisation, performance appraisal constitutes an
important activity affecting the employee morale and performance. People
need to know how they are performing and get an authentic feedback about the
same, in a most non-threatening manner. They need to know their strengths
and weaknesses. Performance appraisal is an important initiative in the
hands of supervisors, to motivate employees for superior performance and reward
