P325 – PROGRAMME ON PL / SQL (ORACLE 10g)

(COMPANY SPECIFIC PROGRAMME FOR L.I.C. OF INDIA)

Background:

PL/SQL is an application-development language that is a superset of SQL, supplementing it with standard programming-language features that include: block (modular) structure; flow-control statements and loops; variables, constants, and types; structured data; customized error handling, etc.

PL/SQL also allows us to store compiled code directly in the database. This enables any number of applications or users to share the same functions and procedures. In fact, once a given block of code is loaded into memory, any number of users can use the same copy of it simultaneously, which is useful for the Oracle WebServer. PL/SQL also enables us to define triggers, which are subprograms that the database executes automatically in response to specified events.
