– PROGRAMME ON INTRODUCTION TO XML (COMPANY
SPECIFIC PROGRAMME FOR L.I.C. OF INDIA) Background: XML
(EXtensible Markup Language) is a document markup language for defining
structured information. XML was designed to describe data and to focus on
what the data is. Whereas, HTML was designed to display the data and to
focus on how the data looks. XML has now been evolved as the standard for
exchanging data across systems. In the recent past, a large number of
software vendors have adopted this standard while integrating info-systems
internal to the organization and also in extranet applications. It is
quite evident that XML has now become the central element in web-based
applications integration today. TXLife/XMLife
