P374 - PROGRAMME ON ENSURING I.T. IMPLEMENTATION SUCCESS

(COMPANY SPECIFIC PROGRAMME FOR L.I.C. OF INDIA)

Background:

Almost all the survey and review reports related to IT implementation projects reveal that the top reasons for project failures are:

  1. Lack of users involvement,
  2. Unclear requirements determination,
  3. Expectation mismatch,
  4. Poor change management.

Result is that many organizations do not reap the benefits of IT implementation even after spending huge amount of money and time.

IT implementation project is not an IT department project but it is of the entire organization. Critical business processes are to get empowered through this. The pace at which technology is advancing suggests that every organization will be seeing at least three-four cycles of IT implementations in next 5 years. Every individual in the organization whether in IT department or not is capable of playing important role in these cycles.
