SPECIFIC PROGRAMME FOR UNITED INDIA INSURANCE CO. LTD.) Background: Today,
information technology has moved into a strategic role in insurance
enterprises, providing critical support for achieving corporate goals and
objectives. Used proactively
and innovatively and aligned with corporate business objectives, it
becomes one element in a strategy to gain and sustain competitive
advantage. Insurance
enterprises are not achieving the full potential of information
technology. There is a gap
between the exploding potential of technology and the ability of
individual insurance enterprise to achieve that potential.

landscapes and has radically changed the way organizations and individuals
work. Information generation,
processing, storage and dissemination are at the heart of a modern
enterprise. Nations have
marched ahead of others partly due to the way they handle information and
