Background
 
  If you want to be an Insurance Broker and if you have read the IRDA notification dated 16th October 2002 regarding Broker Regulations 2002, you may like to go through this Annexure.  You know NIA is different. It not only imparts training but also creates a great ambience of insurance fraternity and a platform for lifetime association.
 
 

National Insurance Academy is an international Academy initially catering to the needs of Insurance Management Education in more than 65 countries in Asia and Africa.  NIA was established in 1980, primarily as a training institute for senior executives of insurance industry by the Life Insurance and General Insurance Industry with the active support of Government of India, Ministry of Finance.  Over the years, Academy’s activities proliferated and now cover training, research, education, consultancy and publication.

NIA has been recognized as an Associate Member of the Federation of Afro Asian Insurers and Reinsurers (F.A.I.R.). NIA is also having collaboration with West African Insurance Institute, Banjul, Bimeh Markazi, Iran, Fairfax University, Louisiana & Wharton Business School, USA. National Insurance Academy has been recognized for imparting training under the Technical Cooperation Scheme of Colombo Plan (TCS).  

NIA SOM:  NIA has started a two-year full time MBA Course.  NIA School of Management has been set up for conducting this MBA Course.

NIA SEE: NIA School for Executive Education has been set up for Working Professionals.

NIA SPD: NIA has set up School for Producer Development for transforming producers into Insurance Sales Professionals.

NIA PRI :  NIA has set up Pension Research Institute. 

NIA is also offering Doctoral Programme in Management areas like Insurance, Finance, Information Technology & Health Care under the University of Pune under the guidance of world-renowned in-house guides.

 

Training at NIA

Your faculty will be first yourself guided by great works of insurance authors preserved in our library as also the C. D. Deshmukh Digital resources available for visual display. These eminent resources will be supplemented by the faculty and research outfit of NIA. Enhance your experience through lively discussions on different issues of broking and decision-making that the profession demands. Reflect on them. See what is likely to be and what you should venture for. See how you can carry on the ideas and your existing experience and expertise into furtherance of business in your life. Though it is statutory to have the practical broking training, at NIA there is nothing limited to statutory about it.  

 

Insurance Broking Programme at NIA :

Programme Schedule: 

Brokers Training (100 hrs) - 18th February 2008 to 1st March 2008 .
Brokers Training (50 hrs) – 25th February 2008 to 1st March 2008

Brokers Training (25 hrs) - On Demand Basis
(subject to availability of minimum 5 candidates)

If there is any specific slot is required for a minimum group of 12 participants, a schedule can be decided upon mutual understanding only in the absence of any fixed time slot declaration. The medium of instruction and examination is ENGLISH.

Examination: An examination would be held on the concluding Sunday i.e. on 2nd March 2008
 
Fees: Rs. 35,000/- for occupancy on twin sharing basis in an air-conditioned room
Rs. 49,000/- for occupancy on single room basis in an air-conditioned room.
It includes tuition, literature and teaching material and examination fee.
For 50 hours' Training exactly half the amount of above fees will be charged i.e. Rs. 17,500/- for twin sharing room & Rs. 24,500/- for single room.
 
Sponsorship: Any organization who are existing Brokers / Applied for Brokership can sponsor their officers/employees for the training.
Nominations
 
 

All participants must be nominated by their organizations. Nominations should be sent at least 15 days in advance before the commencement of the training. The course fees must be sent by demand draft, payable at Pune in favour of National Insurance Academy , along with the nomination form(s) accompanied by a covering letter.

 
Accommodation
 
 

Each participant will be accommodated in an Air Conditioned Room in the campus. Rooms are reserved from the day prior to the commencement of the programme. The participants can stay for a day after the conclusion of the programme. Rooms are fully furnished with attached bathroom facilities. Laundry services are available on payment. Incidental expenses like cost of telephone calls, etc. will have to be borne by the participants themselves. Rooms have facilities for incoming telephone calls. Telephone numbers (91-020) 27204000/27204444 at the Hostels are available for communication with the participants after seminar sessions.

 
Boarding Facilities
 
 

Boarding facilities at hostels include bed tea/coffee, breakfast, mid-morning, mid-afternoon, evening tea/ coffee, lunch, light refreshments in the evening and dinner. Only bed tea / coffee is served in rooms.

 
Recreation Facilities
 
 

Facilities for games such as Shuttle Badminton, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Swimming Pool, Jacuzzi, Full fledged Gymkhana, Snooker, Croquet, Chess and Carom are available. TV at a common lounge is provided.

 
Health Care Facilities
 
  Yoga Meditation sessions are held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 6.45 am to 8.00 am.
 
 

"GIC Pathway" a specially designed Acupressure Pathway has been created. Participants can enjoy a Health Walk between 6.30 a.m. to 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. in this specially designed pathway.

 
 

NIA also has a walking track of approx. 1.5 kms. along with the Campus periphery. The total area of NIA Campus is around 32 acres.

 
Communication Facilities
 
 

Academy is connected to Pune City telecommunication facilities. Telephone /E-mail/ Fax facilities with links all over the world are available (at cost ) on the campus. A PCO is available at the hostel with international links. Postal and Courier services are also available at cost.

 
Library
 
 

The Academy has an excellent collection of books, journals, audio/ video cassettes/ films and CDs related to insurance and management areas in English language. C.D. Deshmukh Digital Library is the latest addition to it.

 
 
Information Technology (IT) Setup
   
 

The Information Technology Centre harbors the hub for the campus-wide network with all the ultra-modern technologies.  This state-of-art learning center has a facility for an indoor broadcasting system & video conferencing facility with any part of the world. The Centre offers facilities like scanning, e-mail & Internet browsing. The Computer center is open for 24 hours for the use of participants.
