CHAIR PROFESSOR VACANCY

At the NIA Governing Board meeting dated 23rd March 2006, a Committee was formed for selection of Chair Professor for General Insurance stream. The position of Chair Professor (General Insurance) is vacant from 6th May 2007. The Members of the Selection Committee are:
Chairman, NIA Governing Board or one of the CMDs of PSU General Insurance Industry
Chairman, LIC, who is also the Chairman of NIA Governing Board.
Director, National Insurance Academy
This
Chair Professor position is meant for an eminent person who from General
Insurance stream. The indicated
zone of consideration will be from executives who have retired from level
equivalent of General Manager and above in case of General Insurance industry
and are not more than 63 years of age on the relevant date when the vacancies so
arise. In case of need, selection
of Chair Professor can be made from outside the insurance industry or at levels
from insurance industry different from the one stipulated from the zone of
consideration inclusive of working executives.
Other conditions remaining the same the regular in-service stream of
executives will be considered at par with retired executives of the respective
streams for the purpose of such selection.
The positions are fixed for a period of two years and in any case the
maximum age limit upto which retired executives can be deployed by the Academy
will be 65 years. The salary of the
Chair Professors will be related to the grade of Professor of the Academy
subject to maximum salary payable at the top-level salary of Professors, which
are comparable to UGC scale of pay in vogue.
The selected incumbent shall take care of compliance of terms and
conditions of his/her previous employment / s as applicable on the date of
joining NIA, which are relevant to this employment as Chair Professor.
In last three occasions Mr. H.
Ansari, Mr. S. Majumder and Mr. S. Sundaresan were the Chair Professor –
General Insurance and Mr. O. P. Dubey and Mr. S. C. Jain were the Chair
Professor – Life Insurance respectively.
This may give an idea of the level of incumbency.
The nominations are invited by
the Academy so as to reach the Co-ordinator of the Search Committee Dr. K. C.
Mishra, Director, National Insurance Academy.
The Committee reserves the right to consider any eminent person with
necessary qualifications and experience as aforesaid even outside nominations.
Self-nomination is also welcome. Nominations
will be received till the positions are filled up by the Search Committee.
The Search Committee reserves the right to accept or not to accept any
nominations. The indicated cut off
date for receipt of nominations may be 31st
January 2008 but the selection may be made earlier or later depending
on receipt of adequate nominations.
