Mr. Sumesh Sheth

 Shri Sumesh Sheth joined LIC of India in 1992 as a 19th batch direct recruit officer. He was in charge of Sales, NB, OS, and Accounts departments of a branch office in Bhavnagar Division for more than two years. He was then posted as a COO (Computer Operating Officer) in EDP of Western Zone, Mumbai working on DME, Unix mainframe with COBOL .In 1997 he joined IT Department of Corporate Office and worked there for about 7 years. During his stint at CO he had a wide exposure to different areas of IT and developed expertise in Various application software, Coding in Various languages, Web applications, Networks, IT Security, Hardware and worked on various platforms .In 2002 he was selected as a special IT cell officer and trained for about 3 months at ZTC, South Zone of LIC by faculties drawn from IIT, Chennai. He scored first rank in the examination conducted during training.
After return to IT Department of Corporate Office he was part of the team that worked on e-learning project and drafting of first IT security policy of LIC.
In 2004 he was deputed to IT Department of Western Zone, Mumbai to be a leader of a small team that set up the first PCMC (Premium Collection through Internet, ECS, bill payment, ATM etc.). He later worked in Personnel department. of Kolhapur division for 2 years.
Before coming to NIA he was the Manager (IT) at Shahdol Division.
His main areas of expertise lie in application of IT for Insurance and handling large IT projects right from conceptualization. |
