Ashok Kulthe

Experience

Joined ‘Oriental’ in October 1977 as Direct Recruit Officer (Engineer). About 14 years worked in Mumbai R.O. in Technical Departments including underwriting, claims and Risk Management at ‘Oriental’ Pune Region. He worked about 9 years as Dy. Manager and Manager in Marketing , Technical, Human Resource Dept. and Administration. Subsequently he was In-charge of Pune Region as Chief Regional Manager and Deputy General Manager for about 6 years till he joined as Deputy General Manager In-charge at Mumbai Region in 2006. Then he was promoted as General Manager and posted at Corporate Office, Kolkata of National Insurance Co. Ltd., where he was holding charge of Motor, Miscellaneous, Health business, till he joined NIA as Professor (General Insurance).

Govind Johri

Experience

Mr. Govind Johri is an officer of United India Insurance Company Ltd on deputation to National Insurance Academy Pune since Sep 2005. He is working as Associate Professor and is also overseas visiting Faculty having conducted programmes in Africa at Addis Ababa-Ethiopia, Botswana-Gaborone, and Dubai (UAE). He has authored Book on Management of Motor Third Party Claims Aug 2009.

He begin his career as Directly Recruited Officer of “Bank of Baroda” in Jan' 79, He joined “General Insurance Corporation of India, Mumbai” in Aug 1979 as Assistant Administrative Officer (Generalist). Later, his services were assigned to United India Insurance Co. Ltd in April 1980. He has exposure in Marketing, Underwriting and Claims Management of General Insurance Services for 22 years as in-charge of Branches, Divisions and Regional Office, 2 years as ‘Principal & Manager’ at Corporate Learning Centre Chennai. He completed an R & D Projects whilst, on ‘Impact of Consumer Protection Act on General Insurance Services’ on deputation at National Insurance Academy Pune, in 1993-95. He is a Diploma in Consumer Protection Laws ILAS – Pune 1994 and Fellow of Insurance Institute Mumbai 1998

He has attended programme of one week “Direct Training Skills; of one week Design of Training and two weeks of Training Need Analysis from Yashda Academy of Administration and development.

He is pursuing Phd under the guidance of Dr. K.C. Mishra on Challenges faced by non life PSU (non life) Insurers in Customer Service Management from NIA accredited research centre under University of Pune

He won “GIC Chairman’s Trophy for Best Division” in 1987; S.K. Desai Memorial award 1997-98 Certificate of Merit from "Insurance Times" for Essay Writing Contest’ 1999 for a Technical Paper and was awarded Certificate Of Appreciation for Implementation of Genisys Application Software in 2001-02

As Deputy General Manager – In-charge of HRD Group, Legal, OSD, Co-ordination & Foreign Operations, Crop Ins. Residual matters at GIC Mumbai for more than two years

Was involved in preparing the Pilot Crop Insurance Scheme (from 1979 to 1985), Comprehensive Crop Insurance Scheme (from 1985 to 1999) and Agriculture Insurance Scheme from 1999 to 2004.

Experience

Joined in CPWD as Engineer in 1971. In charge of installations, operations and maintenance of air-conditioning units, cold storages, pumps, lifts and other electrical installations including sub stations. Joined Oriental Insurance Company in 1977 as specialist officer (Engineer). Worked in various capacities from AAO to DGM (in charge of Region) till June 2007. Handled all the areas of General insurance – Fire, Engineering, Marine (Cargo & Hull) & Misc. insurance portfolios. Handled General Administration, HR, Marketing and Accounts departments in Regional Offices. In charge of Divisional and Regional offices for more than two decades. Worked as Associate Professor (on deputation) N I A Pune for two years from mid 2002 to mid 2004.

Dr. S.M. Deshpande

Experience

Joined National Insurance Co. as specialist cadre officer in the year 1980. Since then worked in various capacities and at various places at National Insurance Co. for a period of over 27 years. Worked as Divisional Manager/ Sr. Divisional Manager and in marketing function for a period of over 14 years. The specific work areas are mainly marketing/ technical dept., looking after underwriting and claims of marine and miscellaneous dept., fire and engineering dept. etc. Also have wide experience in marketing of general insurance products, techno-marketing etc. Was heading technical dept. of Ahmedabad R.O. as Regional Manager before joining NIA in January 2008. Also worked as in-charge of Regional Training Centre of NIC, Pune and Chennai office. Has served as Manager for Nepal of NIC’s foreign branch, for a period of over 2 years.

About 20 years industry experience in operation & administration, claims of various lines of business, underwriting and training at B.O./D.O./ R.O level. Had the opportunity to work in a project called ‘Nayee Disha’ along with the world renowned management consultant ‘The Boston Consulting Group’ in the Business Reengineering process.
